A New EBook Book Reader From Acer Inc. Expected To Take On Amazon
Acer Inc., no bodies fool when it comes to contending in the P.C arena, plans to be in the ebook book reader arena later this year.
Acer executive Jim Wong, head of the company's IT Goods department, outlined the plans all through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's HQ in Taipei.
The day before Apple's purported entry into the tablet sweeps-a gadget that would serve ebook readers over and above others-Wong also said the company will in addition present "hundreds" of apps online, programs that can support Google's Android platform, at the present running on several Acer goods, on top of supporting Microsoft's Windows OS.
By mid-summer, Acer is projected to release an ebook reader with a 150 mm monochrome display, Mr. Wong told Bloomberg. "Kindle and B and N; they are American. Acer could go up against devices including the Kindle2 , B&N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Prs 300 and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it comes out-to contend with. "We're producing something, and we shall see what occures" J.T. Wang, Acer's president, maintained in the report. "We're certain to work what's more within the Windows world or within Google's distinct OS space."
