There are tons of paid blog networks on the market that promise unlimited backlinks and much improved search engine results, all for almost no effort on your part. They can cost between $30 a month to many hundred a month but are they definitely worth the money? Consider a few of the advantages and disadvantages of these services.
The idea behind these blog networks is usually to allow you to create backlinks along with other websites without having to beg and grovel with other webmasters. A few of these services started out as private networks although some were established to be sold being a service from the beginning.
The idea is that you may post your posts to these blogs and include links back for your various other websites. This can help both with indexing for newer sites and with increasing search engine rank with the additional backlinks.
Needless to say, the big benefit is it's all handed to you on a silver platter - there isn't any searching for sites that will link to you. You can post whatever content you need, including whatever anchor text links you would like, as long as you keep to the rules of the blog network.
In fact, you'll get varying levels of value readily available networks. Some of them, especially for the cheaper end with the price spectrum, are made up of low-PR sites that do not really have lots of "link juice" to pass along to your site from the links you add there. Other networks have an overabundance powerful sites but you generally pay additional money to participate them.
It's also debatable whether links on blog networks offer much value, whatever the quality of the sites. There is no doubt that they will get picked up quickly from the search engines, and will help speed up indexing. But of many of these blogs, your post (and link) will turn out on a deep archive page with minimum Pagerank once it drops off the first couple of pages.
Another major problem is how transparent the blog networks are. After all, if a Google employee can join the service and simply identify every one of the blogs in the network, it would not take much so they can completely discount all the links on web sites.
These types of blog networks can function well as part of a larger traffic strategy, however, if you have used them as your primary way to obtain links you'll likely be disappointed.
If you do join one, make sure they don't share all of the sites within the network. Ideally you want a system it doesn't show you web sites, but handles the posting to suit your needs.
