I didn't think I would be able to stop my smoking habit. It seemed like I was always waiting until the anxiety in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I was afraid of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight increase over five pound I was once again smoking.

It wasn't easy but I started some smoking control by replacing additional activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to stop the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my determination to smoke or to stop. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to maintaining my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to continue one you cant really argue for in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you get pleasure from.

After I made my list I hung this list up on my bathroom mirror and also on my bedroom door. I wanted each day to see my reasons for changing my behavior this aided a lot since quitting smoking is a decision one has to renew day by day. Whenever you stop smoking you have to anticipate there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.

If I saw the bathroom scales go up I made sure to workout more and not to substitute eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I by and large would not do for myself. In the event that I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I will not say that I do not think about smoking occasionally and most likely always will but I always tell myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes do not smell like smoke your hair does not reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the cash you would have used for punching smokes into a saving account and watch it add up.
